The journey of Indore Biotech began with Mr.Arun Dike’s (MD, Indore Biotech Inputs and Research), vision to promote the idea of a holistic approach for self sustained life of farmers.
Inspired by the likes of Dr. Albert Howard, Mr. Dike was the first to introduce mycorrhiza and vermiculture technologies in Madhya Pradesh. His initial experiments with pheromone traps, a few inoculants such as phosphate solubilizing bacteria and rhizobia, led to the purchase of his first farm that received financial support from NABARD.
This was in the beginning of 1990s when organic agriculture was relatively unheard of among the farmer community in Madhya Pradesh. The products developed by him were well received by the farmer community and this is how the stepping stone of Indore Biotech Inputs and Research Pvt. Ltd was laid.
It was a company that had no blue print but was entirely based on R&D. It started with merely 5-7 personnel and has now flourished into an organization of more than 100 employees. Most of the resources generated by the company have always been spent on maintaining the quality of the products instead of advertising.
The one thing that we never compromise on is quality.
The company’s “ideology” sets it apart from the other contenders in this field. We see the “Farmer and Farming” in a larger picture where food, lifestyle, symbiosis and peaceful co-existence are an integral part of our worldview. The company has actively taken several social initiatives. It has been a pioneer in promoting organic farming and cottage industries through its products as well as training to farmers and students on its own in-house farm of around eight acres which depicts the model of an ideal self sustained Indian village. We have also been active in rural socio-economic development and women-empowerment through providing employment opportunities to rural women and promoting cottage industries. About 80% of our workforce comprises of women. Our initiatives have attracted visits from several international delegations from countries like Sweden, Turkey, and delegates from 40 different nations who were attending the Round square conference held at Indore, MP in the year 2019. In order to achieve a holistic approach towards the education of farmers, our associate concern that goes by the name Educational Aid Craft has published agriculture related literature in form of books, audiovisual aids, pamphlets etc., in several different languages such as Hindi, English, Marathi and Punjabi.
The company has various departments which work in unison to ensure smooth operations and process consistency across the enterprise. We have a well qualified market development team for organizing trials and demonstration of company products at farmers’ level. The personnel working in market development and sales study the market and regularly provide their feedback to the research and production teams in order to update and/or maintain the quality of products. This exchange of information, execution of goals, and management of cohesion across the organization is ensured by the dynamic personnel working in various divisions including IT, purchase, dispatch, stores, accounts, HR, and most importantly the directorial board. Every one works on clear platform, to achieve the target of our company, keeping his/her responsibilities in mind.
